BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
To keep up with what is going on in St. Johns County Government, I subscribe to the local board of county commissioner’s email newsletters. You can subscribe based on your district of residence, or sign up for all 5 districts to stay informed on the entire county. As a Realtor, I am signed up for all 5, and gain valuable insight and information when they are sent out quarterly. There is an archive of each newsletter by district also available on the website, but it is not as up to date as getting it in real time. Stay informed so you can advocate for your district needs! HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION AND PORTABILITY
Did you know that if you sell your current home that is “homestead” in St. Johns County, and move into another property that will be your “homestead” in St. Johns County, you may be able to PORT that homestead exemption and save BIG on your tax bill? SELLING A HOME YOU RECENTLY PURCHASED?
If you sell a home within three years of purchasing it, you may be able to receive a reissue credit for the owner’s title insurance policy. All you will need to do is provide a copy of the title insurance policy from when you purchased the home to your closing agent. As long as the policy was issued less than three years prior to your scheduled closing, you could recieve a reissue credit. This is a very simple way to save money on closing costs.
